"He looks like something out of a movie."
I blush for him. At that moment I think she vindicated me a little. Even more than when someone else said she understood my problem after seeing him "Boy is perfect". Even more than when she said that he was my version of her "Ana."
"Ana."
They're funny like that. Names are. I laugh.
"Ana."
At one point Ana was my obsession too. Ana. Ana is so charming, so sweet so innocent. Ana could never hurt you. Not really. Ana is the friend who will go too far if you let her so the other girls tell you to keep Ana under control. Ana can be looked upon kindly. Ana is shyness, weakness. Actually, Ana is vicious, she'll kill you slowly. So Ana must be kept under control like Mia must be kept hidden.
If he was an obsession, I think he'd be both "Ana" and "Mia." The blush of being in love with him, would be Ana. My refusal to be with other men, yes, Ana. My utter secrecy as to his identity, even to him, that would be Mia. No one really likes giving Mia her real name. It's like a scar, a scarlet letter. So she get's something cute "Mia."
"Mia" sounds cuter than "Ana." "Ana" sounds like a cancer. It's funny because she kind of is.
So, yes, you're right. He's my Ana, and he's my "Ana" and my "Mia."
Fuck him. He's going to be the death of me.
But like I've always said, it's harder to hate something beautiful.
