I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a poem or prose. So I'm kind of winging it and hoping it doesn't suck... I will write a better one in NaPoWriMo if it does.
A summer breeze rolls in through a window left agape
It's a star spangled night but I hardly notice it
I'm talking to you and I am smiling and laughing
Between the two of us there are never words unsaid
The clock strikes some odd hour and I hardly notice it
What significance has time to me when I have you?
How can anything else matter when you're here in it
Though it might seem obsessive, it's only enjoyment
Your words flash before my eyes and they sparkle
Yes, in your words and my eyes, there's a twinkle
And down my spine runs a rough, delighted tingle
In all of this excitement, sleep seems imponderable
Then suddenly you surprise me with a declaration
You present me with a statement and a question
"It's 11:11" you say "you gunna make a wish hun?"
I pause and examine my desires one by one.
At the time, you were my deepest, utmost desire
So having you was all I could possibly require
But how our relationship has really slowed down!
There are lulls of silence in our conversations now
So no breeze comes through my closed window
It's winter, I'm laying in blankets, head on pillows
The night is black, but one vestige still exists
I say to you, "It's 11:11 babe, make your wish."
