# S: (n) first step, initiative, opening move, opening (the first of a series of actions)
You should know that no one is born being able to spell, read, and write. No one is born speaking any language, and yes, that means no one is born being able to sing. No one is born with a piano at their fingertips, ready to play a Piano Sonata.
Though it is true that it is possible to do many of these things at a fairly young age, it isn't something that just kind of happens. Everyone has to be taught. Even within language, vocal cords must be trained, and fine tuned. One must hear others speak in order to know how to speak. Then, one must open one's mouth and allow oneself the chance to try.
Babies see this as a given. They hear words, so they want to speak. They see people walking, so they want to walk. They know they have all the tools to speak and to walk. They know, innately, that it is unlikely that others have some gift that they do not have. They know that they have the natural right to try. And even if they stumble in the beginning, they believe they can succeed.
You are not a child any longer. I know that. But when did you lose the ability to believe in yourself? When did you become so self pitying and quiet that you couldn't trust your instincts on things in life. Stop relying on other people to do shit for you. Life doesn't work that way. Even if you're not good at something, it doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get better at it. You need to remember that no one was born being able to do the things they do. They work towards it. Why should you be any different? Stop being self pitying, and stop complaining that "woe is you," it's really pathetic. Get off your ass and do shit for yourself.
No one is ever going to just hand you success in life. You have to get up, and have the courage to walk on nails if that's what it takes to get it. No one is going to do it for you. I promise you, it's easier once you just take that first step. Take some fucking initiative.
