BEDA 16: Women and Sexuality in the music industry

Ahh, yes everyone is celebrating the halfway point of BEDA... well I've messed up on numerous occasions so I haven't accomplished that much (except though I post late, there's a post for each day!), but I'll try harder for the second half... hence this blog being written at a bright and early two in the afternoon... I have a lot to write so I may not finish until sometime after 3... see i mess up because I put a lot of thought into some of these...

ok, my issues with the women of the music industry (only partially sarcastic):
Part 1: Beyonce/Sasha Fierce-
Pt. A- Single Ladies.

The premise of this song is supposedly a loud and active female empowering voice and saying to a man that you are strong and independent... wait... but with lyrics like "if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it" it seems to speak exactly the opposite message, it's like she's ASKING for a man to come into her life, and demand she marry him because god forbid all those "single ladies" stay single, or
heaven forbid a girl should want to be a single lady...
The song also continues on the thread of a small rant about how her ex is jealous that she has another man with her at some sort of event. Why is she with another man if some guy she would have married left her at some recent point in time? And to add to the female stereotypes, what is she wearing in this video?!
Pt. B - Diva
Why does she even bother trying to seem feminist? "A diva is a female version of a hustla"???? Why can't a powerful woman be powerful in a womanly way that is completely woman, not "as opposed to" a male ideal...and IF I WERE A BOY enforced gender stereotypes

Ciara- Love, Sex Magic
Ok, i get it, it's supposed to be a sexy song, but why wasn't she wearing clothes in the video? Why is she basically raping Justin? Is she not aware that her fan base includes quite a few relatively young girls and boys? And that her video would come out looking like softcore porn? Whatever happened to the mindframe that birthed "Like a boy"???

Keri Hilson- Turnin me on
Although I approve of the feminist nature of this song, i don't believe that we need to degrade men in order to show powerful women, as they did in the video, she's a relatively new artist, I don't know how much of this was her, I expect more from her.
