BEDA 12: Series- the ones I've read and loved and why.

I've been getting into series for a few years, so I decided to write about my favorites... in no particular order....

1. Cirque Du Freak- Darren Shan
Ok, this series is about vampires. yup... good ol' biting and burning vamps. But not typical, they aren't ridiculous Twilight vampires, or classical Dracula. They drink, but do not kill, and have a feud with vampaneze, which was a really creative creation- making vampires who drink and kill strange and outcasts... the conflict there was played with perfectly. Tear jerking, and funny, I still love it.

2. Harry Potter- JK Rowling
OMG you had to expect this. I grew up with Harry! His angst was my angst! The pressure in his life was the pressure in MY life. His losses were my losses because Jo wasted no page in making her readers LOVE each and every character. We loved the people we hate, and really the ending, I was not too upset, though I hated the finallity of the epilogue. I loved Beedle the Bard too <3

3. Weezie Bat- Francesca Lia Block
FLB is like a second mother to me, her books changed the way I view the world. They're that beautiful, all the characters are so relatable. The grungy teenage outcasts that I read about and thought were cool as shit and totally LOVED, and wanted them to be MY friends. When she fell in love, I was okay with it, because it was like she was my friend. I didn't need to feel like I was the main character, I could just be happy to read it as a story.

4. The Black Jewels Trilogy- Anne Bishop
I heard it's longer than a trilogy, but it will always be a trilogy. Daemon Sadi, even at the age when i read this, I got that he was the sexiest man ever. I'd never seen him, i probably never will, but he was sexy, and yes I envied Janelle, though I never felt like they didn't deserve each other. This tale of magic and hierchy where women rule, was beautiful...

5. The Demonata- Darren Shan
Demons. One Word: Demons. Teen fic at its best and most exciting, Darren Shan improves as the years go by, and I met him, and I'm so proud of that because I've never felt ashamed to be on the train reading a book called "Demon apocalypse"

AND FINALLY:
6. Uglies/Pretties/Specials/Extras- Scott Westerfeld
Tally Youngblood was the most human I thought anyone could get, really. I loved how profound these books were, to really make me think about where humanity was headed, and also the realm of possibilities. Tally definetely helped me to realize how people change and how amazing the human mind and heart are, and truly made me think about how much of what we think is biology and really the extent of free will.

Honorable mention:
Southern Vampire Series:
1 word: yum. It's fun, and sweet, but I'd feel wrong to say it's good.
